Planting projects
In 2018, Alejandro Flor grew mallows and wild cherries in his agriculture class with the students in grades 8 and 9. They collected the 2,000 seeds themselves from plants in Ambato and sown them in small plastic bags. At the end of the year the trees were big enough to plant. Tungurahua Province contributed additional pine and cypress seedlings. The students planted the seedlings around the school as well as the medical center. They also planted new hedges and filled in gaps in existing hedges. The older students diligently looked after the plants and the volunteers also lend a hand - for a greener El Salado.
